An avid triathlete, Coach Leo’s first passion has always been running. A gifted runner since High School, Leo also ran during his collegiate days. Having focused middle distance racing in college, Leo understands the importance of strength training and technique work necessary to both be fast and quick, along with being able to sustain longer efforts. After 6+ years of running, along with his now wife interests in endurance sports, he found his new challenge in the sport of triathlon.

Fast forwarding to today, coach Leo’s passion for sport and sharing his experience in endurance sports led him to becoming a certified coach.  Always a true runner at heart, he has served as the race director for the Mini Donut Half Marathon since its inception in 2015.

coach philosophy

Coaching is not simply copying and pasting workouts. It’s not about plugging athletes into an equation then seeing what pops out. It’s about recognizing individual’s strengths and building upon them; it’s about identifying your weaknesses and overcoming those challenges. Through years of experience in the sport, I am dedicated to helping you achieve your athletic goals regardless of what the “formula” might be.

Initial consultation

Starting with an intake form, we make sure to get to know you before scheduling the initial one on one. From previous experience, to time availability, to even your favorite training equipment, we will cover it all!

Getting all these details on paper will help to guide us in creating an informed list of goals.

No matter your goals and/or level, coach Leo puts together a regimen where every workout has a purpose, keeping in mind that more is not always better. All athletes quickly get the saying “quality over quantity.”

You will see immediately the advantage to having a coach: being able to achieve your goals in whatever time allotment specified earlier. 

Analysis

Performance evaluation

The devil is in the details. Depending on your coaching plan, there will be purposeful data analysis to constantly evaluate fitness improvement, fatigue levels, and overall health. Having constant communication with your coach allows for on-the-fly adjustments according to progression, as well as unexpected life events (sickness, injuries, etc).  

For those with specific races as goals, this analysis can also include post-race analysis, further performance testing, and lessons learned sit-down session.

We offer private coaching for any sport to work on an individual skill, fitness, strategy, etc.

  • swimming focused: comfort in open water, stroke analysis, tips on equipment purchase, drills and technique recommendations.
  • bike focused: bike fit adjustments, bike maintenance, race-specific skills, gear recommendation, spinscan evaluation, race planning.
  • run focused: gait analysis, warm-up and cool-down, injury prevention, race-specific skills, gear recommendation, race planning.

Our most cost-effective offering. Whether it is your first road race, or your 5th IM, our plans are pre-written with athletes of all skills and levels. Just like our personalized plans, you can find:
